Skin infection caused from excess water
I have a doe who likes to lay against her nipple of my automatic watering system. She has been doing this since it has been hot and has now gotten what seems like an infection. The fur is constantly wet, a greenish color with a slight odor. I need to know if it is an antifungal or antibiotic that I need to give her and what others have given in the past.
Thanks, Mark |

RE: Skin infection caused from excess water
Mark,
Honestly, I would use both an antibiotic (injectible) and an antifungal (topical). I would also shut off the nipple to her cage and put in a bowl while you are treating her. To help cool her you could use a frozen bottle of water. The color and odor are not good signs so I would start treating her right away. This one may even need a Vet's attention if you can't get it looking better quickly. Good Luck, Pat http://www.carrollshalfpints.weebly.com |

Their infection however did not look greenish yellow and was brought on by heat stress. I have seen a picture of the problem I think your doe has at: http://www.barbibrownsbunnies.com and click on "medicine chest". The site offers advice for treatment. |
