Kits in a Burrow
Hi, I was wondering when I can take my new kits out of the burrow their mother dug for them they have fur and their eyes are open so I assume they are at least 1-2 weeks old. Or will they come out on their own? the only problem with that is I want to start hand raising them as soon as they are old enough. Thanks guys!!!Big Grin

RE: Kits in a Burrow
Hi

If their eyes are open then they are at least 10-14 days old.
Yes, they will start coming out on their own soon to explore but there's nothing wrong with you handling them now.

Between 2-3 weeks of age they will start eating pelleted feed like their mom but will still be doing some nursing until 6-8 weeks of age. Do not give any rabbit under 6 mo old fresh veggies (even as a treat) because it can cause a severe diarreha that can kill them.

Just keep in mind that you will need to have them all separated from each other by 12 weeks old or they could start breeding each other (including their mom too).

Hope this helps.
