I'm new, have a quick question
Hello,
I'm kinda new to rabbits wel breeding them anyway. I just got a momma bunny last week and it turns out she was pregnant when I got her she had babies a couple days ago (all doing great), but I have my other momma bunny thats going to have babies soon. Right now my bunnies go out during the day to graze, I have a couple large grazing cages and they come in at night, where they have thier own cages. my new momma bunny since she had babies I don't let her out to graze during the day, but I let her have free roam of half the building. It used to be a chicken coop so half of it is wired where its all safe from predators. She loves it and roams around and hopps in and out of her cage all day to check on her babies. I'd love to let me other mom do the same thing. Her babies would be in her cage but then she could share free roam with my other momma bunny. But then I had a tought and heres the real reason for my post they won't hurt each others babies will they? Would it be ok to have them like that I don't want to loose any of the babies anything. Thanks, Randee |

RE: I'm new, have a quick question
Randee,
If you allow the 2 does to be in the same area at the same time they will fight in a major way. Rabbits are territorial, especially the does. You could allow them to take turns in the area but don't let them there together at the same time. Just to be safe I wouldn't allow the does to have access to each other's babies either. We occasionally foster newborns to another doe who had a litter of the same age without any problems but they raise them from that point onward. We don't shift them back and forth between does or allow other does acess to the babies. Once their with the new mom that's where they stay. Hope this helps. Good luck andf enjoy the babies!
