Can a domesticated bunny live outside?

Shy Can a domesticated bunny live outside?
My bunny is about 4 years old. He has lived in the house and I have been taking him outside to play in the yard. We are moving to a house not big enough for his giant penthouse cage. Is there anyway he can live outside? Is there anything we can do to make his home safe outdoors? We live in an area that is pretty cold a good portion of the year but I know wild rabbits can live outside. Can my house bunny adapt? If so, what do I need to do to make this easy for him?
Please respond ASAP as we're moving very soon.
Thanks so much!!!

Yes, your rabbit might do well outside, but sadly it is getting too late in the year to put him outside. He should have gone outside about a month ago. Putting him outside now would be too risky for his health, as he has not grown a winter coat if he was kept inside.
