Birthing
Hi
Our family is new to the rabbit experience. We are with the Georgia 4H rabbit club and show in the junior class. We have 6 rabbits total: 2 mini lops, 1 Polish, 1 Lionhead, and 2 Dutch. We are at day 30 in the gestation period for one of our mini lops and feel out of our league. Can anyone help with a couple of questions?

RE: Birthing
Bunnygurl,
It depends what breed of rabbit you are talking about as to how old they should be before breeding them. Most breeds of rabbits should be 6 months old but there are a few large breeds that should be 8-10 months old before being bred. There is no way to tell how old an adult rabbit is without having a pedigree on the rabbit. A pedigree is a paper that tells you when it was born and it gives info on its parents, grandparents and great grandparents. It's the rabbit's family tree, so to speak. Pat |
