Bad treat??
Petey\'s favorite thing in the world is a maple & brown sugar frosted mini wheat. How bad is that for him? He can smell them coming down the hall and is in heaven when he gets a bite. Is the sugar in one mini biscuit too much once a day?

RE: Bad treat??
Well, you know, my philosophy on that is do you ever eat a candy bar, soda pop, ice cream, or chips? I mean, I know they\'re bad for me, but they sure do taste good and I like to indulge occassionally. :DWell, maybe more than occassionally. Wink If it makes Petie feel like he\'s in heaven, then why not indulge him occassionally. Just as long as he\'s not a junk food addict and still gets plenty of hay and pellets. Smile He\'s only got one life, right? Make it a heavenly one...

RE: Bad treat??
It is so tempting to indulge him because he acts so cute when he gets his goodies. However, I always worry about sugar and its problems on the dietary tract. Are there dangers? He gets his pellets and hay is always there, but I think he does have a sweet tooth.... probably gets that from me.....Smile

RE: Bad treat??
Seriously, I don\'t know the answer to that question. I just could imagine how Petie would get so excited at the smell because I know how excited our bunnies act when somebody walks by their cage or when they hear the rattle of the food can or when they\'re expecting a treat. So I had to take up for Petie. I guess I\'m probably a bad influence. Maybe someone a little more serious minded could answer your question better. Smile

RE: Bad treat??
I\'m no better. Our get frosted mini wheats too - once a day. And they all go nuts for them. So I have no better answer for you either.

RE: Bad treat??
LOL! Aha, I\'m seeing somewhat of a pattern here-- we are wrapped and hooked by these little begging boogers! He does love them... but some articles out there about sugar almost make you feel like a bad person for giving sugary treats. I guess moderation and making sure they have pellets and hay is the key.

I give him his mini wheat when I tuck him in at night, and he about attacks me, so I can\'t even imagine going in there w/o them!

RE: Bad treat??
It okay, as long as the sugar content is not too high (ex. 5g daily.) However, wanna know why he can smell them so easily? because the smell is too strong. Maple and Pine have much too strong of a smell for rabbits and is in fact unhealthy for them, so just avoid the maple part, as long as their is not maple it should be okay.

RE: Bad treat??
What does you rabbit eat? I thought lots of rabbits eat green grass as their food.
How about your rabbit, you mean it loves chocolate cookies.
