Can my outdoor rabbits withstand the cold winter weather? I live in Mississppi so it\'s not constant cold, but we do have some harsh weather.

I would also like to know if male rabbits are territorial. I have two males and two females. One of the males chases the other and has even attacked him. Should they be separated?

This is my first year to begin raising rabbits. I\'m good at raising chickens and bitties. I want to learn more about rabbits for my grandchildren.
my rabbit is loose in the yard she made her nest in some brush what should i do?
Rabbits can easily withstand cold weather as long as they are not subject to drafts or precipitation. The lowest average temperature for anywhere in Mississippi is 26 degrees, which is very tolerable. I personally have kept rabbits outside (in a shed) in below zero. You must have fresh water available, so if it should freeze, you need to make sure it is thawed first thing in the morning. I preferred to give warm water in the winter months.

Rabbits are VERY territorial. Separate the rabbits ASAP to avoid risk of serious injury or even death. Also, if you plan to breed rabbits, don\'t do so indiscriminately. You need to know when the doe is bred so you can prepare her nest box at the proper time. NEVER put the buck in with the doe. ALWAYS put the doe with the buck. Watch them breed, then remove her to her own cage.

I recommend you find a good book on rabbit raising before you get started.

Thank you Charlcie,
Your info was very useful. My rabbits are in an chain link fence with adequete shelter. We built it for my hens then enlarged their coop. So, If I separate the female, the only other place I have is a chicken coop about 2\' X 6\' that is about 3 feet off the ground. Will that do for the female? And how do I make her bedding?

Thanks, DeeDee
