I finally found these organize-it cubes at Target which are apparently very popular for making rabbit cages. I have done some internet research and hopefully with the help of my DH, we can come up with something. I\'m wondering if anyone on this board has built a cage from these cubes and what you think!

Thanks.
Yes,i have built cages out of these cubes but my rabbits like too chew the paint off of them soo then they rust.I had trouble getting the doors too shut tightly.i had too many problems with them.bluebird
I wondered about the finish on the grids. hmm. Did you use them inside and outdoors? Also, did you use the connectors provided? Some people recommend using those nylon tie wraps to hook them. I want something bigger for Petey, but I really don\'t want to spend a fortune on a cage. some cages I\'ve seen are so expensive.
I made my outdoor hutch using those cubes! It has been standing for three years! My hutch is 8ft long, but it is mounted to a chain link fence that acts as the main support. It is 7 grids across the front, 3 grids high and 2 grids deep. I used the connectors because I believe it added stability. Then I used they nylon zip ties to keep it together. One tie in the middle and one at each end. For the door, I used two S hooks at the top and at the bottom I used two rings for hindges. When I shut the door, it hooks at the top and then I keep it stable with a bungie cord across the front. Maybe I can take some pictures this week-end to show you how I did it.
Wow! I would like to see pics of up close construction if you can get to it.

Eventually I will be returning to work and Petey will not be able to roam the room like he does now.... Even if I could double Petey\'s cage size I\'d be happy that way when he\'s caged I feel he at least has some room to move. I\'d really like to build it 3 grids high so he can have a \"mezzanine\" to climb and sleep up top if he wants.

Tx for your post-- I feel encouraged to at least try this although I am not very mechanical. Might have to beg DH for some help....
i have a website i got to that shows good examples of 3 differnet ways to do it and step by step instructions but i will get the website name and put it on here
Here are some pictures of how I made the door and one of where I attached the zip ties for the wall. For the door, I also used a 12 inch bungie cord from the dollar store for the door. The cage sits on concrete blocks, so the door unhooks at the top and the door hangs down when open. I place a step stool in front of the door so they can jump in and out easily.
Codysmelser, if you find that web address, I would also like to check it out. Thanks.
ok well i have been busy ad i havnt look, im at school now and get out at 2 30 and ill go look for it ok

They have a pretty detailed plan (probably over my head). Thank you for the pictures--that motivates me! I really think this might work for a larger cage for Petey. I\'m hoping that I can build \"up\" instead of \"out\" in order to save room in my daughter\'s bedroom.

Cody: Is this the website you were thinking of?
