Some of you may remember this past winter, our doe Midnight kept escapeing her hutch. This was a special built indoor hutch my DH made. We would come home and Midnight would be roaming the house. When she gave birth back in April, both she and her little one would be out and about. When Popcorn was two months old, we moved him into his own cage. Popcorn will be 5 months old tomorrow. Yesterday, while my son was eating breakfast, a black rabbit went hopping past the table. It seems Popcorn let himself out of his cage. Before my son left for school, he put Pop back. Not too much later, the same black rabbit went past my husband. Sure enough, he let himself out again. It seems momma taught him well. The cage he is currently in we thought (haha) was escape proof. It seems this weekend DH will be building another indoor hutch for our boy. One with a better latch and a secure top!
Here\'s the most recent pics of our boy. He\'s got his momma\'s good looks and his dad\'s loving dispostion.

PS - sorry this is so long, but I had to share!
That\'s funny! And what a handsome young man he is! I\'m partial to lops now that I have 3!
How the heck does he get out? What kind of latch his it?
I have a dog that climbs the kennel and we had to put a top on hers. If you put her in one without a top -ya turn around and she\'s standing behind you -with a big smile on her face!
Animals are so funny!

I love Lops too and I especially loved the pictures of your rabbit. My children have Holland Lops. Just out of curiosity, what type of flower were you feeding to him in the picture? Our Mini Rex rabbits love to eat the flowers from clovers, but our Holland Lop rabbits turn their noses up at the clover flowers. I was just thinking that I might try whatever flower you were feeding because your rabbit seemed to like it.
Our little guy is certainly a character! But I love him and wouldn\'t have it any other way.
The latch on the cage is a standard bent wire one. He doesn\'t open the latch itself, but pushes on the door till it gives way. The cage my DH is building is more like a hutch with a small slide bolt. The problem with the previous hutch was he & Midnight would go up & over the top. So this one needs a top too.
The flower Popcorn is eating is an large variety marigold, I think African. Though they love standard marigolds as well, the blooms just aroun\'t as big. My DH thought I was nuts when I planted them since I told him I was doing it just to feed to our rabbits. The other thing I like about this large variety is they have longer stems, keeping them away from wild animals and safe for my crew.
I\'ll post more pics of the trouble maker later!
LOL~ I thought marigolds were s\'posed to be planted around flower beds to discourage rabbits from eating plants! I never tried it but I guess I won\'t now!
