The cage has been disinfected for the pinworm problem & medicated water being administered. Question is, where do pin worms come from? How do they get in feed / water? We want to avoid this issue. These rabbits & cage were given to us by someone who doesn\'t have time for them.
Obviously your rabbits were infected when you got them. What happens is the eggs layed by the female pinworm are passed in the rabbit\'s feces. When the eggs become dried they are easily spread through the air to contaminate water and feed. The rabbit ingests the eggs which promptly hatch in the digestive tract. The larvae migrate to the cecum of the rabbit where they ultimately mature and the cycle continues.
