New bunny owner here, and I\'m wondering the best method on putting her back into the cage without her panicking! She lept out of my hands and fell to the floor. She let me pick her up and calm both me and her down, then she seemed fine hopping around, but really want to avoid that EVER happening again! Scared me as well as the bunny I\'m sure!
This has happened to me before. I was scared too. I try to hold on to my rabbits just tight enough that I can hold them in place but not hurt them. Then I get down on my knees and make sure that I\'m about level with the cage floor before I put my rabbit in his cage. This has worked for me and now my rabbit has learned to wait to be set down before going crazy. I hope you and your rabbit will be just as successful I was!
Sometimes, it depends on how you are holding a rabbit. Rabbits like to burrow their heads. If your rabbit\'s head is facing you, take your right hand and place it under their stomach. Take your left and and scoop it under their rear while lifting and bringing into the crook of your left arm. This hides their heads (a calming effect) and it also allows for your right hand to be free. When you go to set the rabbit down, just repeat the process only backwards this time. When you put the rabbit in the cage, this process makes her go rear first instead of head first so usually they won\'t go nuts if they don\'t see what you are doing. Hope this helps!
