Last time I wrote a thread about my bunnies dying. I heard that it might be heatstroke. But what I don\'t get is one of my bunny died in a hot day. But the other bunny died in a cool day.(about 68F?) Again the things the bunnies did the day they were dying: clicking teeth, opening mouth, whining, struggling, falling to the side and struggling to get up.
HELP!
Unfortunately, not being able to see the rabbits first-hand, it would be difficult to determine what caused each bunny\'s demise. I take it there was some time period between one bunny\'s death and the other\'s.
Was the second bunny a replacement, or did you get them both at the same time? How long after you got them did they die? Many factors could be the culprit: heat, disease, injury resulting from sudden moves as a response to fright, poisoning, etc.

I bought the two bunnies togther. They are brothers. The first one died
on the 5th day since I got them. And the other one died in the 8th day.
Last year I had a rabbit pass on after the heat wave as well. The one day it was 105* and I kept everyone as cool as I could. I even let them take turns coming out of the cage and digging in the cool ground under the chicken coop. Two days later my one buck was dead. He did not show signs of stress although it may have been heat exhaustion which is an effect of heat but more of an \'over time\' effect.
Heat and illness are well hid in most animals species considering a weak animal is usually the first one to be plucked from a herd or flock when ill. Therefore, they may not show the signs that we are looking for. I believe that mine was more bothered then he led on to believe and it caught up with him. They have little heart and the stress may be overwhelming in an animal that already may be ill or a weak link.
Because you said....\"the things the bunnies did the day they were dying\" leads me to believe that the second rabbit did eventually surcumb to the heat but not in a stroke form.
So sorry you lost them -it is never easy -even now for me after 30 years!
Thanks for helping I\'ll remember all the advice.
Hopefully next time I get a bunny it\'ll have a better
ending.
