I am planning to bring another rabbit, since the lady who lives in my town has about 50 rabbits which are really not cared properly. I already have one rabbit, which is 13 years old and lives in an outdoor hutch prepared by me. But now I am concerned that if I leave him in the yard he might dig out. Since my yard fences are wooden on both the sides, I wanted to know how to secure the yard so the rabbit stays within the limits. If any one has any details on outdoor enclosure - height of the fence, the fencing material…please advice!
You might want to check into dog kennels. You can often buy tops for them so you don\'t have to worry about hawks. You can lay down chicken wire and cover it with dirt to keep your rabbits from digging out. Another trick is to put something in the middle their yard, like a small dog house. Rabbits like to hide the entrance of their hole and they will dig under the dog house and you will be able to fill it in before they can escape. You can give them tree branches to play in. If they have bark to nibble on they will stay busy and be less likely to dig. I would not give them more area than I could keep control over. For run ideas, check out: (
