My DH is getting ready to build a play yard for our rabbits. They will not be out with us being nearby and it will have a roof as protection from predators. My question is this - how high should the sides be? We\'re planning on an 8x8 square and 5\' high. Is this good?
That should be plenty of room. You will need to do something so that perdators can\'t dig under to get your rabbits and you might have to do something so your rabbits won\'t dig their way out.
Thanks! We don\'t plan to leave them out there alone, but want to give them a chance to get out and play.
Sounds fine too me.I prefer mine too be movable soo the bunnys can have fresh grass when it gets eaten. If it has a top i doesnt need too be 5 feet high.bluebird
We are planning to move it as need be. If 5\' is too high, would 3\' be ok?
Three feet should be good enough. A run should be tall enough so that your rabbit can stand up on his hind feet to look around. Young rabbits like to jump and spin in the air and I think they should be able to do that with a three foot top.
I love watching them do that jump & spin thing! I wish they wouldn;t grow out of that stage so quickly. Just like kids, they grow up way too fast
I know! I love seeing my rabbit jump around on our deck!
I have a big play yard for my rabbits. My buck will map out an obsticle course and run under things, through things and around things as fast as he can. My doe will sprint about 6 to 8 feet until she reaches the corner of the fence, jump and spin in the air and when she comes down she runs off in another direction, only to do the same thing again. It is funny how my rabbits have very different personalities.
Mischeif: What is your DH making the play yard from? Will it be mobile? I\'d love to do something like this for Petey, but I do have limited yard space.
