I allow my rabbit, which is a Jersey Wooley, to spend almost eight hours outside his cage that is placed in my room. But, of late, he has started smelling my legs and at times even bites. Another thing I have noticed about him is he has started chewing things around the house. In fact, last week I caught him chewing a plastic bag. Is my rabbit OK?

Apart from this I have some queries like how often should you brush their hair?
Is it risk neutering your rabbit?
What kind of toys they like?

Your valuable suggestions will be appreciated.
I was strongly advised by every source to have my house bunny nuetered. They are healthier, happier and live much longer as they are no longer at risk for certain kinds of cancer. Plus their behavior is much more compatible. My vet was very cautious on her weight though, noting that under 4 lbs is risky going under anesthesia. Rabbits are touchy about the anesthesia anyway and need to be at least 4 lbs. As far as chewing on plastic, I\'d think that would be a choking hazard, or risky for a blockage if she/he is swallowing. I did learn one good tip online, that is anything you don\'t want bunny to chew on, such as moldings and carpet, just rub with a bar of Ivory soap. Only use Ivory as other soaps have chemicals that can harm bunny. I\'ve used this after much frustration at nothing else working and it works like a charm, doesn\'t stain and you can\'t even see it.
Just re-read your post. As far as the nipping, I think your bunny is just getting your attention to play. This is normal between two rabbits. I have read that the way to break this is to give a high pitched squeal when she nips you.(I know sounds kinda corny) The theory is, that rabbits give this high pitched squeal when they are hurt. By doing this you are letting bunny know that it hurts,(which she probably has no idea that it does) and she will supposedly start nipping lighter and lighter or just use another method of getting your attention. Good luck, let me know if it works. As for toys, our bunny likes a rolling ball with bells in it, and she loves when we put some paper on the floor. She tosses it around. During my grandaughter\'s birthday, our bunny had a ball shoving balloons around, but you have to watch closely so if one pops she doesn\'t chew it.
