I remember at one time a post about a mobile outdoor play yard for rabbits. It seems to me that they were cubes or squares that hooked together and they were available even at Target?

I\'ve been looking around but the only thing I\'ve found are the play gates that aren\'t really all that big and quite expensive.

Any ideas for an inexpensive, mobile, outdoor play area? I\'ve even thought about checking the farm supply store for wire fencing. Any thoughts?
If you do a search for \"NIC condos,\" you will find a lot of examples of things people make for their rabbits with these cubes. NIC stands for \"Neat Idea Cubes.\" At Target, look in the section for closet organizers. They are called \"Organize It\" cubes. They go on sale often.

This run is pretty expensive, but I think it would be easy to make and less expensive then the NIC idea because you could just buy a roll of fencing and wire it together or use zip ties. I made a run once out of NIC grids. I used six grids for the top. I used the connecters that came with the grids and secured them with zip ties. For the sides, I made them only one grid high because my rabbit had a broken back. I secured the sides loosely to the top so they could fold up for storage. When I set it up, I used clamps to hold the corners together.
My girls and I built what we call a \"playpen\" out of left-over 1x2 boards and then covered the sides with some left-over fencing (1\" poultry netting and hardware cloth). It\'s a cube that\'s about 3 ft x 3 ft x 2 feet tall. We put shade cloth over the top when the buns are in the playpen (2 reasons: shade (duh Smile ), and cover from overhead potential predators (which we have a lot of)). It doesn\'t look that great, but it\'s very functional, and since the buns are only in it if we\'re outside, we don\'t worry about it being \"predator proof\" like their regular hutches. It\'s easy to move and was cheap (free) to build.
I\'ve been looking around for the organize it cubes, with no luck yet. I also need to try our local farm store for some wire and try my hand at a make-shift pen. I\'m not the most creative person, but since its just for outdoory play I probably don\'t need an architectural book or anythingSmile

Tx ladies for the ideas.
You might want to lay down some wire on the ground so Petey doesn\'t dig his way under the fence.
I have a white, blue eyed dwarf holland lop. I got her when she was 5 weeks old and she grew bigger then we thought she would. All the cages I found were way too small for her so I decided to build her one. I used storage cubes, you can find them at target or even fred meyer. I made them three grids wide and 3 deep. Then I stacked another \"room\" on top of it and built a wooden ramp so she can go from one floor to another. I connected them with the round connectors that come with the grids and then zip stripped it all together to make it sturdy. The top floor, I made for her to sleep and lounge in and I put her blankie up there. She seems quite happy in there, but would rather come out and cuddle with our feet, what a quirky bunny.
