i have bought a couple of mini rexes and i know they are pure breed but the breeder didnt give me any pedigree. is there any way i could just start a pedigree or what do i do?

This should have been discussed by you and the breeder- were you paying for show stock? or Pet stock? Some breeders don\'t want you to breed their pet stock so they don\'t give papers with them- you should ask her about it- do not make up a pedigree- I had a youth breeder use some of my rabbits names on her fake pedigree and I was mad! If you have decided to breed for showing then you need show stock with pedigrees!

Call the breeder ask if they have pedigrees.usually if you do not get the pedigrees with the rabbits and you go back later there is an extra charge.bluebird

What do you do if the breeder says that they\'ll send a pedigree and you don\'t receive one. I bought a mini rex about a month ago and he looks really good and was exactly what I was looking for. I was shown the parents to the young buck and they looked good too. The only thing is that they said that they\'d send a pedigree in the mail and I haven\'t received one yet.

Call her and ask her- tell her if don\'t get it the rabbit is useless to use and you want a refund- most breeders have a software program to run them off and print them- I did it for everyone that came to my house - they got the pedigree and rabbit the same day- if they are in the old mold of handwriting them its really hard to get them to want to do all that handprinting- I learned to put 50% down and hold the rest until I got the pedigree at a show or something- I got burnt a few times before I implemented that policy !

That also happened to me when I first started out in rabbits, at a show none the less. So now we do not buy any rabbit unless the pedigree is there to view at the time of sale. Even if it is the best looking one, because if you do not get a pedigree it will do you no good. Some people just want the income.

I hope you are able to obtain your pedigrees. (If the rabbits were sold with the understanding you\'d get them.) It is very discouraging to purchase rabbits with the understanding you will be able to produce pedigreed stock and the pedigree(s)s for your foundation animal or animals is/are not forthcoming.

You can create your own pedigrees, but you wouldn\'t be able to represent any stock produced as pedigreed until you had made it to the third generation from your original foundation.

I agree with blue bird. Call the people. If you have their email address emial them. If you know there name and where they live(City, State) you can probably get there phone number off the web. You may try going to the breed website. You may be able to find a way of contacting them. I had this problem .I purchased a Holland Lop buck for breeding at a show. He was being sold as pet quality so she did not bring the pedigree. He wasn\'t great for showing but what i needed in my tryi program. She said she would mail it to me. It took 2 months for me to get it. I emailed her. I got her address and pone from other breeders Good luck!.
