My son\'s girlfriend had a sweet doe bunny who seemed a little sick one night and she woke up to find her dead. The girl had strep throat that week and thinks the bunny got something from her. Is this possible? The symptoms was just that she didn\'t want to eat or drink that night, and that she wouldn\'t lick her hand. She think\'s she died in her sleep because she was all stretched out in her sleep position. I feel so bad for my son\'t gf. She is blaming herself. She just got the bunny Valentine\'s day, and it was just a baby then.
I doubt if strep is one of those things you can pass on to animals, or my pets should have died a long time ago.
I think it is more likely that the rabbit died of an intestinal blockage, like from a hair ball or carpet fibers. She also could have had problems with her teeth that might have made it difficult to eat or swallow. Rabbit teeth grow constantly and some rabbits need their teeth clipped from time to time. Rabbits hide their illnesses and often by the time you notice they are sick, it is almost too late.
Sorry about your son\'s gf. If she gets another rabbit, please invite her to hang out with us on this board.
