Good morning all! Does anyone else have a problem with their house rabbits chewing on wires? Just the other day I grabbed an extention cord to unplug it and I got zapped. I looked at the wire and it was chewed just about all the way through. Can they not feel it? Yesterday I had to go out and by a new Play Station 2 cord because it was chewed through.

Is there something I could put on the wires to deter them from chewing them?
My rabbits are outside, but I have heard of people threading their wires through PVC pipes to keep their rabbits from chewing on them.
I have a house rabbit and i bought a cable cover to stop him chewing. You just slip the cables into it and i also helps to save messy wires behind your tv etc. But as he has grown older, he has really lost interest in chewing. You never know yours might do the same.
Young rabbits (and hamsters) are notorious for chewing wires and pulling rugs! Don\'t know if you can really stop them. It didn\'t used to bother me until I was paying for the appliances! LOL Smile
Bouncers idea is a good one...otherwise I just shorten the cord as much as I can so they can\'t reach it. Playstation wires I know kinda lie around -maybe wrap up the wire on the controller when you not using it?!
\"Wire worms\" are dangerous for them to get tangled up in and chew up -if no one is watching them -they can get hurt. Every see what happened to the cat in Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation??! LOL
Love that movie....!
Megan: we wrap our wires with cable cover as well and it works pretty well to deter Petey. You can find it at a hardware store probably or a shop that specializes in electrical hardware (that\'s where my hubby works and gets ours).

Petey will occasionally still try to nibble, but it is really thick and he tires out. Now if I could only find something to make him stop pulling carpet... I\'ve tried pepper, sour sprays, etc. Any new ideas are always welcome thank you!

You can buy the cable warps at Home Depot,Lowes or any Auto Parts Store has a Coil type wire wrap that also works great and is easy to install. Big Grin
