Hello. I just got started in 4 h and showing. We have a pet mixed who had babies on the 19th. My buck has scratched and bit me for the last 2 days. how fast will they cycle. I was told that she shouldnt until the babies are at least 14 days old.
I don\'t quite understand your question? Is it about the buck or the doe or both- Oh, I re-read it and I think you are wanting to breed her back? You want to breed a doe about 3 times a year so give her a 3 or 4 month break between breedings- the buck is just being territorial- I used to keep my bucks from seeing their neighbors on the left and right- they could see forward and backwards but there was space between him and the other rabbits- is he close to this doe and the babies?
Rabbits will rebreed immediately after giving birth.keep the buck in a seperate cage or she may already be pregnant again.bluebird
Please understand that rabbits do not have a \"heat\" cycle like other mammals. They are considered induced ovulators and are, if you will \"always in heat\". The act of breeding stimulates a release of eggs or ovulation.

They are sometimes more receptive than others, but are often very receptive right after kindling or giving birth. Things such as the temperature, and their condition (over/underweight and general health) can effect their receptiveness and ability to conceive, carry and kindle.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your project. Breed responsibly, making sure you have an outlet for any offspring.

Hi. Rabbits have an unusual breeding cycle compared with most mammals. Does do not ovulate on a regular cycle, but only in response to mating, with the eggs being released from the ovary between 9-13 hours later. This ensure likelihood of reproductive success.

Hope this helps.
