My rabbit is preganant (i think) how do i tell if she really is and if she is is there a way to tell when they will come? she has been getting rounder for about 1 week and a 1/2 can somebody help me please.
Thanks Rosy from New Zealand.
The best way to tell if a doe is pregnant is to palpate her between day 10 and 14 post breeding. A lot of people put the doe back in with the buck for a \"test mating\", however, some does will refuse the buck even if they are not pregnant and some will breed if they are. (The other problem with this method is that a doe can actually conceive a second litter in a different uterine horn which can cause an inconvenience at best and serious health problems on the other end of the scale.)

Do you know when the doe was with the buck? It takes approximately 31 days from breeding to kindling (giving birth). A nest box, with suitable bedding, needs to be provided on day 28. If you\'re not sure, then it is safest to provide a nest box regardless. Keep it with the doe for up to two weeks. Since you\'ve noticed her belly getting rounder (and you know she was with a buck), she could be ready to kindle at any time.

Good luck. Smile
