My baby rabbit is facing a unique kind of problem – he’s getting tummy. Although I’m not sure as to how much he weighs or he should be, but he has this habit of eating other rabbit’s food. Generally, they are served food twice a day which includes two sliced carrots and brocoli. Moreover, they have access to plenty of fresh hay and water. Another thing is that due to weather they have not been to the garden for quite some time now and it’s usually dark when I come home after work. I want to know whether he should go on a diet or require urgent medical intervention.
Please help.
Hi Carter-Tapan,
Can you give us some additonal info? How long has this been going on?How old is your rabbit? What kind of pellets are you feeding it? How many bowls is their food served in? Is your other rabbit(s) male or female? Is your bunny dominant or submissive? Is your rabbit\'s feces normal? If your rabbit has not had a check up lately than it would not hurt to have a Vet check him or her out. Less physical exercise and not being able to nibble in the garden daily sounds like a reasonable cause. Can you call your Vet and talk over the phone?
One suggestion I can give you at this time is to change the brocoli to another \"green\" veggy like carrot tops, curly or italian parsley, or cilantro. I have read that brocoli gives rabbits gas.
