Hi, my name is Sean and recently I bought a pet rabbit on a whim from a petstore. It is a pretty funny story sooo. It was a few days before Christmas, and my mom wanted to buy a hampster for my sisters. My sisters are 9 and 7, I happen to be the oldest and Im 21. Anyway we were looking at hampsters and we, well I.... actually I don\'t remeber how we changed from looking at hampsters to looking at rabbits. Well anyway he is an all black rabbit, and has a little tiny white stripe on his forehead. An interesting thing I noticed was only the tips of his hair is black, when you pet him you can see his hair is actually white underneath. Well I feel for him instantly I had gotten some Christmas money and well I always wanted my own pet, I mean we have a dog but its my mom\'s I wanted to have my own pet to take care of and stuff. So I instantly feel in love with the rabbit. It took some time but my mom did too. So instead of buy a hampster we bought this rabbit. Its technically a family rabbit, but my sisters only visit everyother weekend so it is mainly my rabbit. At first we named him Jet because he was all black. I didn\'t really like that name so after some discussion we named him Maxis Jet Banks. My last name is Moscarell, and mom\'s is Valentine, but Maxis Jet Moscarell or Valentine didn\'t sound all that good. Well we bought him and all kinds of other junk. We bought a leash, bedding and litter, the person in the pet store said we could litter train him and my mom was like yeah that would be so neat. We also bought him food of course and alfalfa rings, and this like salt lick type thing.
Ok with that all said. I know nothing about rabbits and some things he does are, well strange to me, maybe they are normal but I don\'t know. Apparently we bought and abused rabbit because, the people at the pet store said is nails were so long that they got twisted. And he was very shakey when we brought him home, he\'s better now. Well anyway we had his cage set up with his bedding and his litter in the corner he seemed most to be using in the petshop. He didnt have a litterbox in the petshop. I cut a home forhim out of a cardboard box and put it in the opposite corner. This was the day we brought him home I did this. For the first few days he was home he left everything the way it was. And didnt do much anything but hide in the box. Now he digs at the bottom of the cage, and his litter box and even his food bowl, and kick eveything around mixing it all with his bedding. On top of that he keeps moving eveything into the center of the cage, turned the little cardboard box upsidedown and eveything. I keep putting it back and adding new litter and he keeps doing it.
What can I do to fix that? Is this normal for rabbit to do? Another thing I noticed everytime I go to pet him he goes and stand in a corner and puts his head down so as I couldnt pet his chin or anything. What can I do for him to be less afraind of me. Actually tell my anything you can I know nothing about rabbits and anything could help. Also the petstore person said he was a lop or a mini-lop how can I tell. also Im not sure his age either. Please help me out.
