I have been reading that rabbits need 30 hours out of their cage each week. I have a secure area where I allow my rabbits to run for 4 hours each day and 9 hours on days I am home all day. My rabbits are given access to their hutch at all times, and although the time varies, they usually only choose to spend 1 hour each day in the yard and on days they are give 9 hours of free time, they choose to spend only 1 hour out of their cage in the morning and 1 hour in the late afternoon. Are my rabbits just lazy? I am wondering how people come up with the 30 hour rule.
Isn\'t it interesting?? It seems to me that some articles I\'ve been reading on rabbit care specifics are a lot like new baby handbooks, and after having 3 children, I can tell you that you just don\'t follow EVERY rule or suggestion they recommend! Who can keep up with all of them. I think its safe to say that a bunny has a right to know how active he wants to be!! I\'m sure Petey would love to be out all day, but there are times when we have his cage door open and he prefers to snooze in his own bed inside the cage.

I am still amazed at how high he can jump. Do most rabbits jump 3 or 4 feet high to get on a bed, etc.?
My sister had a house rabbit that I had given her that easily hopped up on her daughter\'s bed (and then would proceed the physically throw the cat off). Big Grin

Sometimes my female likes to sprint about 6 feet to the corner of the fence, and when she reaches the corner she will jump straight up and spin in the air. When she lands, she will be facing another direction and then take off again. I have also seen her do a 360 degree spin!
We get the biggest kick when Petey runs, jumps and spins like that! He is confined to 2 rooms in our house and he takes full advantage of it!! Occasionally he will dart 100 miles an hour from one room into the hall into the next room. Then he\'ll lay down like a tired old man!! Cracks us up! Didn\'t realize bunnies could be so playful like a kitten. As he ages (6 months old), he doesn\'t do it quite as often.

Do bunnies age in \"bunny years\" like dog and cat years? In other words, if they make it to 10, are really considered 50 or something?
When comparing animal age to human age, the rate of aging actually varies from year to year, but if you want to average it out, a rabbit (whose average lifespan is 9 years - more or less depending on breed, etc.) a rabbit ages approximately 8 years for every year it lives, compared to humans.

At what age does a female stop breeding? Just curious.
