Please help if you can..
My 8 year old black Dwarf Lop (male) has been dealing with open raw skin sores beneath his eyes down to his nose. The vet has checked him out, and they\'re stumped. It\'s not mites or an infestation of any kind. His fur will get matted then it comes off in clumps leaving raw skin. We treat him with an antibiotic and topical ointment to help him with any pain, but it seems to keep coming back. We try to moisten the area with warm water so he can then clean himself, otherwise the areas become very matted and start to smell like rotting skiin. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? If so please let us know how you handled it.
THANKS!!!
Does your rabbit have weepy eye(s) along with this? Often, when one or both eyes tear continuously, the fur on the cheek below the runny eye often will be matted. If the runny eye is due to a bacterial infection such as Pasteurella, a resulting infection can spread to cause a severe dermatitis.

I personally have used some natural rabbit remedies through the Rabbit Medicine Chest. They have a topical treatment called Oxyjuv and an internal treatment (added to the drinking water) called Systemajuv. I have personally used the Systemajuv and can vouch for its effectiveness. I placed a link to the Rabbit Medicine Chest on my Website....

I hope you can solve the problem with your bunny. Good luck. Smile
