My friends\' bunny died this past week he was only about 13-14 weeks old and showed no sign of illness on S:(at he seemed quieter and no h/o not eating no diarrhea etc on sat night he just died anyone have a similar experience he had not even gotten to his first vet appointment so we are not sure did he have some latent infection or something?/ we are very sad he was a very nice bunny
That\'s too bad about your friend\'s bunny. Sad

I think most rabbit raisers have had a mysterious death in the rabbitry. Rabbits can have heart attacks. They can be startled and break their neck while racing around the cage. Acute poisoning can occur or a virus that hits hard and suddenly.

Though you and your friend didn\'t notice anything amiss, there most certainly was a definite cause, but it shall forever remain a mystery...

Does this happen that often? My first rabbit, a holland lop, was 18 months old when he did this and died instantly. I never thought of his cage as something that could hurt him but I\'m so careful now with my new lop. The first lop I had was pretty hyper-active - could this contribute to that kind of behavior? Or would something have \"spooked\" him? We never had him neutered either so that probably didn\'t help. Luckily, this new lop is very mellow and we already had his fixed so hopefully we can avoid this problem again. I just never thought of his cage being a dangerous place for him.
I\'m somewhat interested in this topic also. Petey is often spooked, and I am now worrying about it. Also, I run the vacuum in his room and he has always seemed to tolerate it. Is that something that could be stressful or scary to him if he\'s been used to it?
