Please help if you can! My blue Mini Rex herd buck Toto is about 2yrs old. Two days ago he stopped eating and drinking! He is in a big moult so my 4-H leader told me he may have a hair ball. I\'ve been letting him run around, offering him all kinds of treats, I added gadorade to his water wich is supposed to encourage him to drink and I suringe fed him pineapple juice to break up the hairball if there is one last night and he still hasn\'t eaten anything! I\'m so scared I\'m going to loose him and I have no idea what else to try! PLEASE HELP ME!!!Sad
We took Toto to the vet today. They are going to hydrate him, try to get the hairball out and will be keeping him overnight. We\'ll see how he is in the morning!
I\'m glad he is getting better.
AL
what do you do with a rabbit thats got a hairball and how do you know if a rabbit has one
Rabbits with hairballs will stop eating ,but not eating might be caused by other factors too.large hairballs may require surgery.anytime a rabbit stops eating and drinking it needs to see a vet.small hairballs may pass.bluebird
Unfortunately, many places don\'t have vets that will see rabbits. That\'s the case around here...we\'re on our own. Unfortunately, we\'ve also lost any vets that will look at poultry, sheep, or hogs. Unless you have dogs, cats, horses, or cattle, you\'re out of luck and need to rely on \"home remedies\" and \"self-learning\".
If it is a small hairball offer your rex an unlimited amount of hay and that will usually get rid of the hairball.
To help prevent hair balls feed hay every other day . Papaya also helps. Purina feeds has papya in it.
How is TOTO doing?
