i adopted a 1 and a half year old flop-ear and i know nothing of her past vet history. i called a local vet and asked about getting her a check-up and if i needed to get her any shots, but they sounded confused and said that they dont have a check up for rabbits and that rabbits never get shots.

Are they right or have i found a terrible vet office? what shots should i be getting for her since i dont know if shes had any? also i want to get her spade and im not sure if she has been or not since i have no idea what to check for. Anyone know how to tell if she has been spade or not?

thanks
As far as I know rabbits don\'t need shots, but I don\'t know how to tell if a rabbit has already been spayed or not. Sorry.
You wouldn\'t be able to tell if your rabbit is spayed or not with any certainty without knowing her past history. To get a better idea of the hormone levels in your rabbit, you could examine her vulva on a daily basis for about a month. If hormones are coursing through her veins, you could observe times when her vulva appears more swollen and more intense in color. If her vulva remains unswollen and pale pink, she could be spayed or she could have low fertility based on some other unknown reason.

There are no shots in the US routinely given to domestic rabbits. A proper diet and environment will be most effective in keeping your bunny healthy. Smile
