Hey,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. A breeder I know of has offered me a rabbit that I\'d like to buy, but because of the distance, we would be shipping her to me.

I\'ve never had a rabbit shipped to me before, nor has she ever shipped one out before. I\'ve heard that they have to be shipped via air, but I don\'t know if that\'s like profession airline (ie Delta) or overnight air FedEx-type thing. Would it have to be going into a commercial airport, or would a smaller airport be okay? The nearest airport to where I live gets mini-jets and FedEx planes, I know, but a commercial jet wouldn\'t be able to land there. Also, about how much does it cost to usually ship a rabbit? I\'m looking at shipping a 3 mo old Flemish Giant (I\'d guess her weight would probably be about 7 or 8 pounds, maybe up to 10) from Ontario, Canada to either Boise, Idaho or La Grande, OR (depending on what sort of airport I have to have her shipped to).

Thanks to anyone who can help.
All the shipping I have ever heard of has been through a major airline (Frontier being the most common). I don\'t know if they do ground shipping or not.. but I can\'t imagine them being able to keep them in a temperature controlled area to ship. But then again I have never looked into it..

I know to ship the rabbit has to have a vet certificate, and an airline approved carrier. Then the shipping usually runs $80-200, depending on who you ship out of, weight, ect.

Other than that I have never had experience shipping, so hopefully someone who has can jump in here, LOL.
Shipping is usually done throough a major airline. Just call up like Delta, horizon or another airline, find out if they ship live cargo, see if they fly between the two cities you need and they will give you a quote. It is really very simple. I have shipped rabbits many times and have never had a problem and the price is usually relatively reasonable.

Lucky, what do you mean by reasonable? I have never had a rabbit shipped either, but I have always heard it costs around $100 to $150 per rabbit. I think it would have to be a reallygood rabbit for me to pay that along with the rabbit\'s purchase price, and the gas to drive to the nearest large airport which is about an hour from me.
