Is it safe to use an antibiotic on my rabbit\'s sore hocks?
Thanks
i don\'t know but I sure would like to!!My rabbit gets sore hocks so bad!!shes a rex.I have no idea what to do either!!
I tried \"HomeBest\" Triple Antibiotic Ointment with Pllymixin B Sulfate, Bacitracin Zinc and NeomycinSulfate in it and it worked great. I called my vet\'s office and was told it should be fine as long as it doesn\'t have a steroid in it. I bought it a Walgreens Drug Store. I put it on my rabbit\'s feet and then held him as long as he would put up with it; about ten minutes. Then I wiped of any excess. The weather here has been cooler, so that could also be a factor in why my rabbit is doing better.
I realise this is an older thread, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows if \"homeBest is available in Canada? maybe at Walmart or?

I\'m sure there are other brands that are just as good. I think there is a similar ointment called Neosporin(spelling?). Just check the ingredients where antibiotic ointments are sold.
thanks.
I just checked what I have on hand,,one is polysporin,,which is
polymycin B sulfate, Bacitracin Zinc .
The ointment the vet gave me is BNPH...which sounds ok, but I\'m wondering about the hydrocortizone in it? would that be harmful for them???
I think it would be alright to use for a short time, but I think that long term use could cause diabetes.
In that case I\'ll get the bnp withought steroids..thanks for letting me know,,
