I just adopted a 2 year old bunny named Lily. She doesn\'t ever bit, but when we got her, we let her out for a while to run around and she ran and hid under the bed. When we would try to put our hands in there to get her out, she would rush at our hands and grunt alot. She wouldn\'t bite, but she would put her paws on our hand and then rush back away. We finally got her out and got her into her cage, but now when we put our hands into the cage she will randomly rush us. Does she just need time to adjust to us? We want her to be happy and want to know how we can make her comfortable. She is taking to all of her toys and chews nicely though after being in the cage for a while. Does anyone have any good advice in adjusting an adopted rabbit? Thanks a ton for your time and posts!
Just leave her alone for awhile while she is out ....she will come on and start investigating things which is good....the grunting is a warning sign....and she may actually bite if you don\'t listen.........just sit on the floor when she comes out and talk to her or show her a toy.....she\'ll come around....Raven ps....rabbits are very territoral
ok thx for the info. now when i do let her out though, she gets really nervous when im trying to pick her up to put her back in her cage. i dont want to grab at her really fast and scare her, but she is too fast for me to slowly approach and pick up. how would you suggest picking her up in a way that won\'t scare her? (shes so hard to catch as she goes under the bed or in small spots that i cant reach). Should i take her into the hallway and shut all the doors? she could run up and down it and she wouldnt be able to hide under anything, but still she will probably run when i try to pick her up. Thanks again!
If my bunny tries to run from me and I need to pick them up..what I do is wait until they are semicornered..in a place that is harder to get out of..and slowly walk to them with my hand outstretched...they usually are more curious than they can help and sniff my hand..then I pick them up easily.

this is only temporary..my rabbits are grown now and know me. I don\'t have to chase them or trick them...they let me pick them up freely. yours will do the same eventually.
