About 3 days ago my golden retriever sniffed up a nest of babies right by my deck. My son and I checked out the nest and felt they weren\'t safe anymore. My dog now knew where the nest was and we have many cats in the area. Later after looking around my yard ,we sadly found the mother.
We have been following suggesstions from this site. They eat pretty well. Their eyes have opened, and they have become more alert and stronger.
My big question is: when do I know when to let them go??
Should I let them go back into my yard or take them to a wild reserve park??
PLEASE HELP!!!
bunnybabe
i would take them far out into the woods when they turn 3 months old
Be sure and take the bunnies for small yard trips so they learn that outside is ok I am also raising a wild bunny my dog found the nest and sadly killed 2 of the 3 kits I found Blaze on the 25th of April and hes doing great so far GL with yours
That is great that they were old enough to survive -it is so hard to raise wild babes. Thank goodness you found them before it was too late. I had a wild rabbit named Jacque. I kept him for a couple months then just let him go in my back yard. He\'d show up periodically which was sweet to see that he was ok -but then he was gone and I\'m hoping he has found a good bunny life.
If you let them go together chances are they will stick together in the same area until they feel secure in their new surroundings. How many are there? Are their eyes open or still closed now?
You may want to call your local Fish & Wildlife Dept. to see what the \"rules\" are (if any). If you like having wild rabbits in your yard, you might want to consider releasing them there as that is the environment in which they were born.
We need to realize that in nature, many, many rabbits don\'t survive to see their 1st birthday. They become food for other animals. Just realize you can\'t protect them from all dangers.
