yay i have never even thought about ownin a bunny and now i do and i love him. he is adorable and im having a great time gettin to know him and what he does. now, mostly being a cat person, i know what makes cats happy, but what can i do to make my bunny happy? and how do i know when or if he is happy? is there a special place he likes to be pet? i noticed that while rubbing his cheek, he tends to close his eyes, is this because he enjoys it?? where else can i pet him so he will like it?

also, i kind of have the feeling he doesnt like me! i know we are only on day 3 and i need to give it time, but will he warm up to me??? i hope so.

any advice would be great and appreciated!! thanx guys!!!
Give him time to adjust. Sit on the floor and allow him to explore his area. Maybe offer him a piece of carrot. Most rabbits do not like to be picked up so make sure that if you need to or want to pick him up, do so in a firm manner that supports his front and back ends. Most of my rabbits like to be scratched around the ear base and between the eyes but some don\'t either. Just take it slow and find out what your particular rabbit enjoys. Like all animals, some make better pets than others. Some household pets are more aloof and do not care if they have any human contact - others just crave attention. Rabbits can be the same way. Just take your time and make him feel secure and safe. Give him a good diet with plenty of fresh water. Avoid too many treats and fruits and vegetables. A good pellet and unlimited grass hay is the best. Too many other things can upset his tummy which does not make for a happy bunny. In time, I\'m sure you will be the best of friends. You should also take this time to do as much research on rabbits as possible so that if something should come up, you are prepared to deal with it.
thanx alot for the advice. today i went out and got him new bedding to clean his cage and im goin to attemp to liter train him. as of now he knows to only poop and pee in his cage, and im tryin to change that so he poops in his liter box found in his cage, anyone have any advice on that????!

i also got him some cat toys (balls with little bells in them) and he seems to love it. he picked it up and threw it. and it was adorable. i also cracked and got him a nice comfy bed type thing which i doubt he will use but it was just too cute. he lays down in the oddest place, like against my shower in the bathroom!

but we are becoming closer, today he watched me change his cage and re-arrange my room and is startin to climb on me to get a better look. he seems happy tho, jumps around a lot and hops here and there. i love him.Big Grin
What is is doing when he rubs his chin on things is called chinning........leaving his scent on everything or marking his territory.....and i would use hay as litter will make him want to go to litter box to poop and stay and eat a min...that helped mine get litter trained......they also like bananas.....and grapes only feed as treats and very small amount.....Raven
He is probably closing his eyes because he is happy. My bunny does the same. My rabbit loves cabbage, carrots, spinach and lettuce but they are only allowed small amounts. He also loves shamrock leaves and bananas. Have you tried giving him bread? Mines loves it especially toast (I think it is the butter). Also litter train them early. If you are just having one rabbit a cuddly toy might be a friend for him. My rabbit has 4 cuddle toys.
