[attachment=15]Hey everyone, I\'ve been reading a lot of the threads and I am just astounded at the depth of information. I personally never even thought twice about rabbits. To me it was just dinner, every once in a while. That is until Saturday.......... I was in a feed store buying food for my sons\' white dove, And just like always I would pass the row of cages with chicks, rats, mice, and verious other animals that the store sold. This included rabbits. While I was at the counter my daughter looked at all the animals, as usual. On the way out she said, \"Mom, I want a rabbit\".
I thought about it for a moment......... Do I have a place for it? Yes. Do I have time to help her look after it? Yes. Will my husband be mad? Yes, and that did it. It was a spontainious purchase. Granted not the best way to buy, especially an animal.
It\'s Sunday morning and I am still amazed and intrigued by this little creature. He\'s not much bigger than a large Iced tea glass or rat. (Layed on its side of coarse) But he\'s cuter than any puppy that i\'ve ever had. I thought that he may be only a few weeks old but it seems I may have grossly misjudged that. Any how to my surprise my husband said we should get another..... Go figure. I am clueless. Ask me about dogs, I train them, Ask me about horses, they are my hobby, ask me about rabbits.......and i\'ll send you here, as of this morning. Thank you to all the people who post and the (what I would call experts) knowledgable ones for freely sharing what they know. Before I end this thread. I would like to ask one question concerning rabbits and cats. We have a kitten who is slightly larger than the bunny. I have already had one run in between these two. It seems the kitten sees a delicious play thing. NOT ACCEPTABLE! Between last night and this morning I actually considered losing the cat! I guess I fell for the bunny and hard. I know that a grown bunny can be a worthy adversary, back claws and all, but i\'m not to sure about that. So please enlighten me. Oh and I put up a picture of nameless, Can anyone tell me what kind he is?
Clueless
He looks like he might be a lion head. They are a small variety with lots of energy. If he gets bigger, I would guess he is an angora mix. Rabbits can and do get attitudes. He may start growling and charging after your cat when he gets braver. You might get a squirt bottle and squirt your cat when the cat get too intimidating. I have had more then one person tell me that they had a bunny but got rid of it because it became aggressive after being harrassed by another pet. Many rabbits become aggressive when they reach maturity, so if that happens, please don\'t jump to conclusions and blame the cat. If you do decide to get another rabbit, just know that adult rabbits often kill baby rabbits that aren\'t their own babies. It is okay to put two bunnies together, but you may need to seperate them later. Females often get along fine without being spayed. Adult males and females will fight after mating, and adult males will not get along unless they are neutered before they reach maturity. Good luck with your new family member.
