[attachment=14]Yeah I\'ve got a female dwarf that is a year old her name is Torge, and a male dwarf, Shafticus, that I just got from the pet store today. Oh he is so awesome. I\'m guessing he is like 4-6 weeks old or something. When I let them play together, just play not breed, Torge just chased Shafticus, got a little close to Shafticus\' rump, latched on... THE DOE WAS THE MAN... luckily I got her off. Is it because she is so agressive after seeing only people, and would Shafticus see the doe as a mother figure or a mate? In 4 weeks I hope to breed them. I hope it is not too late because Torge is like a year older than Shafticus, so would this work out so they have babies?
hello! here are some basic things to know about breeding:

*males won\'t reach sexual maturity till they are around 5 months old, larger breeds it takes longer. sometimes they CAN breed earlier then that.
*a female rabbit can breed at any age, but it is very much advised to breed before 1 year old since if you wait to long yellow fat can build up around the ovaries causing loss of fertility.
*do not house, or let you buck and doe run around together at any point. because the doe can hurt a little buck, but mainly because if you choose to breed, then you will have no idea when they bred, so you won\'t know when to expect babies

here is the deal, baby bunnies are cute, but are you willing to risk your pet female? things can happen and go wrong. you can lose the mom and all the babies, or just the mom, then you have to think about how you are going to hand-raise those kits. there is a lot of things you must really think about before you decide to breed. do you have a plan on where the babies will go when they are 6 weeks old and ready to find new homes? what are you going to do with the ones you don\'t find new homes for, keep them? because then you need more cages and food, and bedding. any babies you have would be sold to pet homes because you can never really be sure that they are purebred(at least not the buck, since he came from a petstore)

breeding is fun, but just think it through all the way, don\'t ignore that there are risks involved!

Dwarf bucks are not sexually mature for breeding until a minimun of 4 months old so you have alittle bit of a wait yet until he is ready to be the man. Your doe is mounting the baby as a way of showing dominance. Either your buck will grow up and do what rabbits do naturally or your doe will have made a wuss out of him. An aggressive doe can ruin a buck\'s confidence if he is constantly beaten down by her. If these were my rabbits, I would not let them run together at all for right now. Give the poor guy a chance to grow up and get that bucky feeling in him before turning him loose with a doe. And always bring the doe into the buck\'s territory. A doe will fight to protect her territory where a buck is just wanting to mate. Putting her in a place she is not familiar with will give the buck a better chance to get his job done.

Well thanks for the help guys, I will be sure to take these into consideration.
make sure you are ready for babys....rabbits have LOTS of babies if left together to much.... LOTS AND LOTS of them..

and it is not as easy to find a home for rabbits as it is for kittens and dogs and sometimes that is even hard...having baby rabbits can get to be VERY expensive...

be sure you want the responsibility before you let them together....

i also hope you realize a rabbit can have up to like 18 or 20 or more babys at one time... we had a rabbit once that had 18 babys at once and anotehr that had 22 rabbits at one time... so be prepared for the babys if you are allowing your rabbits to mate
