Hello...I am a first time rabbit owner. My bunny is named Toby and he is a beautiful Rex/Lion-headed rabbit mix with a gorgeous calico colored coat. As you could probably tell from my description, I love my Toby very much.
He is coming upon five months old and has been acting very oddly lately. He will occassionally get into a dark mood where he will make angry squawking noises at people and where he will not want to hop out of his cage and play. When he was in one of those moods, my roommate held Toby\'s favorite toy in front of my bunny\'s face and Toby smacked it out of his hand with his paw and squawked at him. So I am wondering whether it is just him hitting puberty? I know male rabbits need to be fixed at six months. Should I be worried about Toby\'s current rabbittude?
Also I have had him since he was a month old and he has always done another behavior that I worried about. He\'ll hop onto a blanket and bunch it up under himself by digging at it and jerking at it with his teeth...then he\'ll smooth the blanket out again...he\'ll keep on doing this till he gets bored. What the heck is he doing?
I think you are right about your rabbit reaching puberty. Having him neutered should help greatly. Give him lots of toys so he doesn\'t get board and maybe some tree branches to nibble on. Apple branches work best but you can try lilac, maple, pear and willow to name a few. Not all trees are safe so check them out with your vet. At building supply stores like Menards or Home Depot, you can buy concrete forms. They are round cardboard tubes that your rabbit can run through like a tunnel. I think they are less then $5 per tube and this may help to keep your bunny busy.

Congratulations on your new bunny. Toby is about the cutes bunny I have ever seen!
Hey-the blanket thing. My rabbit-and alot of others LoVe to just do it to rearange!\"smooth it out\"she loves doing it to \"her security blanket\"and takes her anger out on it that way too.
Rabbits do love to rearrange things. Mabey hes doing that.
my bunny does the same thing with her blanky. she bunches it up under her all the time. she also \"squawks\" sometimes when she is irritated - she has got quite a personality on her!
