Don\'t laugh...I am a new owner...

I have a 6 month old Lionhead and a 4 month old Fuzzy Lop, both of which I was told were female.

When I first introduced them, the Lionhead, Sweetie, chased the Lop, Blizzard, around the cage and tried to ..ahem..you get the picture. I summed it up to excitement of an odd kind and got another cage for Blizzard, putting the cages right next to each other so they could grow used to each other.

Last night, Blizzard was trying to chew her way through the bars and into Sweetie\'s cage. Today after they were done hopping around, they hopped in the same cage so I closed the door on them. They ate, played, got along - then about two hours later I noticed that Sweetie was once again ..doing her (?or his?) thing. Blizzard was not complaining, just complacently sitting there.

Yikes.

I have no idea what to look for as far as male or female, I was just told they were both female and went with it. Would a female try to mate with another female upon being in the same cage? Or should I keep the second cage up and expect babies in a month or two?

Sorry for this, I\'m a new bunny owner and in need of serious bunny advice. LOL!

As your bunnies get older, it is easier to tell their sex. You will be able to see the testacles on a mature male rabbit. Rabbits of the same sex do mount each other. Even though it looks like a sexual thing, the one doing the mounting is just trying to show they are the dominant rabbit. Congratulations on your new bunnies.

Two female should get along just fine. If they are different sexes, they will start fighting after mating when they are both mature and they will have to be seperated. Two males will not get along after they mature unless you neuter them before they reach maturity.

If your bunnies are trying to chew a lot, try giving it a tree branch. Unsprayed apple or willow are best but other branches will do. Mine like liliac, but some trees are not good for rabbits so you may want to check them out first. Cut the branches in pieces and wash like you would wash fruit. They will eat the bark and then throw the sticks around in the cage and play with them.
Just to be on the safe side you should check the sex of both of your \"does\" right away. When I first got rabbits about 6 years ago I had 2 Mini Lops both \"does\" only to find out after having them both in the same cage(I didn`t know any better then) that one was a buck luckily the doe was too young and wasn`t pregnant.
no they wont

2 female bunnies from differnet litters will fight right away and not really get along....2 female bunnies from teh same litter may get along for a while but when they get to mating age they will become worst enemies and will fight for the kill...

i have asked the vet and pet store owner about having 2 female rabbits

both said NO don\'t do that....unless you want a dead one...eventually when they are wanting to mate, even if you do get them spayed .... because of instinct and the female rabbit (like a female human) gets very protective of her own space...even if spayed...

you should not have 2 females together for long...this is why most people give away baby rabbits asap...
