I have an 8 week old rabbit that is very sick
She was taken to the vet about a week ago because she couldnt use her back legs and was urinating when i picked her up the vet kept her over night and ran tests and told me he thinks she has hurt her back. I was told to take her home as he thought she would get better over the next few weeks.
Its been a week and she is now worse because she has what looks like an abcess on her tummy. Her dropping and urine are fine and she is eating and drinking.
I have to take her to another vet today I live in a small town with 2 vets and neither of them seem to know much about rabbits and the next closest vet is 2 hours away (and she hates the car)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
ASAP
THANKYOUSmile
Hi Ozbunny,

When I take my bunny\'s in the car (they also hate it) I put them in a carrier and cover it with a towel, so they can\'t see out. Once in the car I uncover most of the towel and seat belt the carrier in the front seat with me so I can monitor the temperature, etc. I do not turn on the radio as that seems to make them more anxious and talk to them along the way to give them some reassurance. Sometimes giving them their favorite greens or a wedge of apple seems to help, unless they are really upset and then they are not so easily bribed.

I live in the city and there are tons of Vets around, but I drive an hour each away to take my bunnies to an experienced rabbit Vet. I cannot stress how important that is. So, be assured you are doing the right thing even though she hates the ride. Let us know how her visit to the vet went. Did the first Vet take an X-ray of her back?
