Hi all! I receintly rescued a bunny from my tennant who basicly had abandoned him (she was never home and just let him have the run of the place) I was worried about him getting into something that might hurt him or worse kill him (electrical cords and stuff) She isn\'t a good house keeper (there is a two foot walk way through out the place and garbage everywhere) Any way this bunny is so sweet and cute! He is about four pounds and 10 months old. He is a rex with orange colored fur (feels like velvet) I\'ve let him run around here and he gets along really well with my other animals especially my gunea pig! But now thet he is getting used to being part of the family he has started digging on me and biting. Why does he do this? and how do I get him to stop? Also he will circle my hand and then try to ummmm... violate my hand if you know what I mean then nips me to boot! I tried to explain that I like him very much but it just won\'t work out for us ( you know two diffrent worlds and all) now if I was a bunny and all.... all kidding aside, how do I stop this behavior? He is such a nice bunny and a cuddler too but I\'m afraid he is going to hurt me or one of my kids with that biting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you LISA
The best way to stop this aggressive behavior is to have him fixed. As my male came into maturity he started to get really aggressive. He had been a sweet bunny to start with, but then got a real attitude. After he was fixed however, he started to settle down and is now very mellow, he loves to be carried around and brushed and just sort of hangs out with his cage mate (who is now starting to become the problem child!)

But rabbits are very hormonal creatures and anyone can tell you that hormones can drive anyone crazy- even bunnies.
Glad to hear that youre giving him a chance and saving him from the dangers in an unattended to environment. I have two young male rabbits who went through the same behavior problems. One would actually molest my stuffed animals if left unsupervised! They would circle my feet and nip and such as well (and grunt too!).

My advice to you would be to have him fixed. Its a simple procedure and only cost me around 60 bucks. If you do choose to do this, call the vet and make sure he or she has worked with rabbits, as some do not perform this procedure as often as others. Also, if you have him nuetered and he is still acting out, I would suggest maybe getting him a mate to ease his boredom and frustration. If he is still young, it may be best to bring in another baby, especially a female (but only if hes fixed!). I made the mistake of bringing home an adult male to an adult male, and had to go through the horror of trying to get them to be buds (now theyre inseperable). Check http://www.rabbit.org if you have further questions...they have been such a huge help to me!
Good Luck with your new friend...they truly are a wonderful pet to have in your home!
my bunny bites to when he does that I screatch and it hurts his ears and he dosent bite me for a while
funny thing...I brought him in to get fixed and found out he was a her! (Thumper is a Tinkerbell!!) I had her fixed anyway and that was last week (took forever to get her in) she is doing fine now but is a little reserved and I worry about her eating enough. She doesn\'t eat half as mych as she used to. When do you start to worry about these things?
Lisa-

Is Tinkerbell regaining her appetite?
I think she eats some but she doesn\'t run up to the fresh fruits and veggies like she used to. I do see her nibbling some but not like the piggie does- should I worry? Lisa
Lisa-

Is she drinking and eating her pellets normallly? If she\'s doing ok with those two then I probably wouldn\'t worry. Have you given your vet\'s office a call to ask what you should expect? I think that would be the prudent thing to do.
I talked to the vet on Friday and had an appointment for her today but over the weekend she seemed much better and she started eating like she normally does so I canceled the appointment and will keep an Eye on her for now. Thanks everyone!! Lisa
Lisa-

I\'m really glad to hear that she is getting back to being herself!
