Hello!
I have had a little boy that is a grey dwarf rabbit for a little over a month now. I recently went on vacation and left my little baby with a friend to baby sit while I was gone. She has some experience with rabbits because she has one as a pet as well and I thought it was good to leave him in the care of someone who knew how to care for him.
Anyway, while I was gone, she tried to let our rabbits play with one another, but they got into a little fight, in which her rabbit bit mine on the nose. She immediately separated them, but because she didn't think the wound was that serious, let him be.
It's now been a week and a half since I've gotten back from vacation. When I first got my little boy back the wound was nothing but a little scab by his right nostril. Now it looks kind of infected; the area looks red and slightly swollen and I see a little pus and he sometimes snorts and paws at his face.
I've started cleaning it gently with a cotton swab and some warm water.
I'd take him to the vet but I currently don't have the money to. The local vet that specializes in exotics and pocket pets is kind of expensive... I'm sure a visit to them would result in an over $100 bunny medical bill... which is something I can't afford at the moment.
But I wanted to know; do you think I should try and see the vet as soon as possible? If it's something I should take more seriously and respond to immediately, I'm sure I can try and get someone to help pay for the vet bill.
And what can I do in the meantime to prevent it from getting any worst?
Thank you!
