Hi,

I am new here. We just got three bunnies for our daughters for Christmas. They were rescued from a pet store about six weeks ago. Bone thin, and missing clumps of hair due to mites.

Anyway, they are healthy now and we are loving them. We were told that they are all three does. However, one (a smaller of the bunch) keeps jumping on the backs of the othere two making a \"mating\" motion (if you know what I mean). Does this mean it\'s a buck? Or, is it trying to fight the others?

Can we keep these bunnies in the same hutch? Help!!!!

Have a great day,

Daphna
Daphna,

Your rabbit jumping on the backs of the other rabbits is normal, and does not mean it is a buck. The behavior is probably a harmless display of dominance. Rabbits have different personalities, some are more dominant than others. Yours should be fine together, unless it turns nasty (snorting, biting, fur-pulling, chasing). Then it would be wise to separate them.

Also, space might be an issue. If the rabbits feel too crowded, that might encourage fighting.

Hope that helped a bit!

Meg
you might want to check and make sure it isnt a buck it might very well be one, it happend to me, the only way to find out for sure is to check your self or have a professional check, like your vet or someone who would know for sure
good luck with your bunnies!

No, my sister and I both have male rabbits and they do that. Mine\'s bigger and does that to her\'s. Moose (mine) protects Zouro (her\'s). But my friend got two \'male\' hamster\'s, they had kids and ate them. So you might want to get a 3-in-1 hutch, to be safe.
