I'm real sorry if this is the wrong place to put this thread.
But I'm from AK and there's not too much here to do with rabbits. That's why I'd like to start off showing ND's! I own a black otter ND. She's no where near show quality but I adore the breed! I really want to get into this hobby! I'm willing to loose more money than make money. I've been studying- showing rabbits/health/breeding/etc... I've read many articles and now I keep hearing the same information. I cannot find much info. on what judges look for in a ND. I also don't quite understand the tattooing part. I'd really like to hear a lot about a good quality ND that would do well in a show. I want to know what to look for. I want to know what good depth/shoulders/etc is in an ND. So basically, I want to talk to an experienced ND shower/handler. I would love if the questions I asked in this thread were answered! Extra information would be great! I'd like to know as much as I can before I actually start this. :)

Akkylee',

Hi. we have raised and shown NDs for over 10 yrs. I really enjoy your enthusiasm in wanting to learn as much as you can.
Here is a good place to start. The American Netherland Dwarf Club has a website http://www.andrc.com you can become a member and you will receive a Guidebook that includs TONS of info and color pics of every accepted color of NDs as of it's printing date.
It would also be beneficial to join The American Rabbit Breeders Assoc. (ARBA). Their website addy is http://www.arba.net It also comes with a Guidebook on general rabbit raising as well as a Yearbook containing ALL it's members listed by state. Both organizations have a Magazine. The ANDRC's is quarterly and ARBA's is bi-monthly.

There is LOT to learn about NDs . The ARBA website also lists all upcoming shows across the USA (just click on the "shows" link).

I certainly hope this helps you out. Let me know if I can help you further.
Good Luck!
Pat
