My female rabbit had babies on friday night. we didn't even know she was pregant. She had seven but 3 were dead upon birth. She didn't build a nest or pull hair to expose her nipples. we put a nest made out of a box, towels and nesting cotton in her cage and she tried to tear up the box. than we took out the box and than she flipped over the babies because she wanted to chew on the towel. She hasn't paid attention to the babies and even steps on them and doesn't even notice they are crying. So we took the nest out of her cage and put a heat pad in a box and made a nest out of towels and nesting cotton. We have been hand feeding them kitten replacement milk since saturday. We tried to put them in with her over night and in the mroning we realized she did not feed them because their tummies were not rounded and full . They were crying and searching for food. We tried yesturday to to force her to nurse them. My husband held her and I put the babies on her belly and they sucked on her nipples but no milk came out. Last night one of the babies died. We don't know what else to do. I don't want to loose the remaining three.
Can anyone offer any advise?
