I would like some advice on breeding my pet rabbit. I have two females who live together at the moment and would like to get a male at some point in the future to breed with one or both of my females. My question is this: Once one of my females is pregnant, does she have to be removed from the cage and separated from her companion? Also, when the babies have been weaned and removed from her, can she then go back to living with her friend. I am worried that after being separated from her friend for any length of time whilst caring for her young, once reunited that they may start to fight. One last question; If I wanted to keep one of my babies (female), can she live with her mother and her friend or will they fight?

When breeding, you only put the doe and buck in the same cage when you want them to mate, and remove afterward. The male may cannibalize or kill the babies, and yes, it is ok for the daughter to stay with the mother, but not with the father.
