I am a 15 year old Freshman in Gilman City, Missouri and for my SAE Project in FFA I am going to raise, breed, and sell meat rabbits. I have bought a few cages and everything that needs to go in them. I have just now found some Californians for sale that I am buying this weekend. I can\'t wait to get them. I called up to Orchelins to see if they sold rabbits since Easter was coming up and luckily enough the owner of the store had some Californians for sale at her house. They are 2 months old and weaned, I am gonna pick up all her does and get a buck from a friend at school who is gonna have his rabbits weaned in about 2 weeks. I have read alot about rabbits and I think I am ready, but I can\'t wait to get my rabbits. I plan on attending some rabbit shows in the summer, but I will do alot more next year when I get a truck and my driver license. Thanks for reading this.

I`m sure you`ll be happy with your new rabbits and it sounds like you`ve done plenty of research on them(good thing you didn`t buy directly from a pet store for brood stock as they hardly ever come with pedigrees). Have fun going to rabbit shows, i love showing, it`s really fun! I`ve never had a meat breed, just my tiny litter dwarf breeds and a crossbreed but my brother has Rex which are a medium sized breed.
Good luck! As legendgirl said.. sounds like you did your research and are going in the right direction! =D
Good luck. I raised newzealands for my 4-h projects. Never a better meat rabbit. I also showed mine, so it might be a good learning experience if you hit some shows with your breeding stock, and learn and listen to the judges and other breeders on what to look for and such with your rabbits. It will help your 4-h breeding program out tremendously. Smile Showing and being involved with 4-h is alot of fun and hard work. Smile
