Full Version: Male fussing over doe and kits

My doe gave birth two days ago and has best I can tell she\'s doing everything needed to take good care of them. She and the father were cage mates before (the semi-proverbeal thought we had two males, as they would hump each other, and unfortunately hadn\'t been able to get them neutered yet). Anyhow, as soon as we realized she was pregnant, we seperated them and set up another cage. However, Blackbeard HATES it and anytime he is allowed out, he does nothing but hop around and on top of the edge of the other cage.
Is this an issue with housing or does he just miss his friend? Or does he know the kits are in there and is maybe just incredibly curious as to what that other smell is? I\'m starting to feel really bad for him because anytime he\'s in his cage, he\'s trying to get out.
Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I apologize if this should have been posted in a different category.
It\'s fine that you put your thread here. As long as you get some answers, everthing will be fine.Wink
Our buck Baxter hops around the cges with the does in them everytime we let him out. He spends more time around Cloud, who we mated him with a few weeks ago. Now he had been by himself until we adopted him in December and then we introduced him to Cloud in January.

I\'m sure in Blackbeard\'s case it\'s a combination of all 3. But missing his friend is probably most of it, espiecially if they were raised together.
