Hi all,
My French Lop had a litter of 7, they are 5 days old and all doing well besides one. One has skin that looks like it\'s peeling, all over it\'s body there are big flakes of skin coming off.

I haven\'t seen anything like this before, can anyone tell me what this is and what I need to do?
Thanks.
I\'m pretty sure what you are describing is dried on pee or the mom didn\'t clean it very well at birth. Every so often we get a litter that will have this. It is usually in a larger litter where everyone is stacked up in the nest. When this \"peeling\" happens it is usually because the nest box gets dirty VERY quickly (lg. litter, Mom soiling in it, Etc.)

The best thing to do is take a baby wipe (I use the ones with no smell & for sensitive skin) & clean the bunny. Dry the bunny well.

You\'ll need to clean the nest box too. Keep as much of the clean fur as you can. If it is all really dirty then turn the Doe over & pluck some fur.

Place the baby back in the nest with its siblings. Make sure you put it in toward the bottom of the pile (so it gets warmed up & starts smelling like the rest of the litter again).

As long as the baby in question appears active & healthy then this is most likely the cause of the \"peeling\". We\'ve never lost a baby to \"peeling\" or has \"peeling\" ever lead to any type of sickness here. Keep the nest box & babies clean & they should be fine.

Ah right, glad it\'s nothing serious! It is a bit smaller than the others in the litter, but it seems strong enough and is getting fed.

I\'ll try what you\'ve suggested. Thanks for your help!
