One of my Mini Rex does has a grunting problem. Almost every time I stick my hand into her cage she runs around her cage and grunts. There is a buck caged next to her. She also has a month old kit in her cage with her. Could she be grunting because of the buck or the kit? I am so confused!
Petey grunts when I put my hand in his cage too. I think it might be a territorial thing with him. He wants to tell me that the cage belongs to him and I\'m invading his space. Even when I am giving him a goody he still grunts at me-- like I\'m going to take it back or something!
You are probably right. I have another doe that trys to bite me almost every time I put my hand into her cage. She has bitten my mom and my brother. After she bites someone she acts guilty. After a couple weeks she starts acting like she is going to bite someone again.

hee hee. I always wondered if other rabbits acted guilty too!
Petey acts guilty after he does something bad too, like pull carpet, etc., Sometimes he\'ll even run in his cage while shaking his ears from side to side, like \"I know I\'m in trouble, and gonna get scolded, so I better get to my room\"!
Doesn\'t stop him though, he still gets in trouble again....

Rabbits are indeed very territorial. One particular signal when a doe \"grunts\" like that is she is wanting to breed (especially if you notice her tail \"twitching\" when she runs about the cage). Often (not always) the grunting ceases once the doe is bred and pregnancy hormones begin to kick in.
If you have plans to rebreed this doe, you can do so at any time. (I rebreed my does anywhere from 5 weeks to 8 weeks post kindling.)

My doe sometimes twiches her tail while she is running around the cage. I do not want to breed her again because she is mean to her kits and she usually does not feed them. What do you think I should do?
i also have a bunny that does this also she is a total winch when it comes to feeding her but she also is due to have kits on monday could this be why she is a total pain
If you just want to keep this doe as a pet, I would consider having her spayed. Otherwise, there\'s not a whole lot you can do about her \"attitude\".
