I have a doe that I am continually having to clean the corner of her cage out. Her urine is a cream color and compared to all the other rabbits is thick and sandy. She appears to be in excellent health, is active and eating and drinking well.
She eats pelleted food and hay daily and gets some sort of fruit or veggie every other day.
Is there something I should be adding to her diet to curb this?
Rabbit urine color and consistency varies with individual rabbits and brands of feed. It sounds like your bunny is excreting a lot of calcium. Eliminate the hay and see if anything changes. If you are using an Alfalfa based hay, that could be part of the problem. Make sure it is grass hay only.
She gets a combination of timothy and orchard grass.
Thanks for the input, I\'ll pull her hay for a few days and see if it helps.
Never would have thought the hay could be the culprit.
