Hello i have a a female and male bunny not fixed yet (because they were left in a store) and i made an appt to get them fixed but my male escaped and i found them together all happy and lovey doveySmile
so if she is...i will care for them and make a huge hutch and try my best to be a good granmother LOL
but how long or shall i say fast is the mating part , i heard it can be as fast as the male jumping on her for a few seconds ?
any help would be fine.
thank you!
critterlover!
If she was receptive to him then it would be over and done in a matter of a few seconds. So that\'s about right. I honestly can\'t say I\'ve ever timed my rabbits breeding but from the time I place a doe in the bucks cage until they are done breeding, is a matter of a few minutes.
And bunnies will be born usually 30 to 31 days after breeding takes place.
wow i better get ready then! Smile
i have always had rabbits growing up and i just adore them, they are alot of work though, but this gives me time to get ready.
and should i now let them be together and bond?
It would be best if they are each in their own cages. Often times, well most of the time, they will fight when the doe is no longer receptive to the bucks advances. Sometimes there are exceptions to the rule. But for the safety of both rabbits they should each have a cage of their own. You can keep the buck and doe in cages side by side if you like. Just not to where they can get into one anothers cage.
Also a lot of does become very tempermental and will become quite aggressive towards the buck while they are pregnant.
Also if you leave them together there is the possibility the buck will rebreed the doe in a week or so. The doe has two horns to her uterus and it is possible for her to concieve a second litter in the other horn of her uterus which means she will most likely lose all the kits. I\'ve never had this happen but have read about others who have experienced this with their own does.
wow i have never heard of that before but thank you!
i will keep them apart , they both have full range in the house (of course at different times) i am planing on giving her a nesting box at 28 days . is it ok if she still runs around and binks? i dont want to upset her.
ohh and also i looked at another thread and it said that the doe can only be pregnant if the buck falls over after they are done? is that true?
Well...yes. Unless the doe is artificially inseminated. (Yeah, they do that.)

It happens pretty quick, so if you look away, you might miss it, so not necessarily SEEING the buck fall over or backwards doesn\'t mean the doe wasn\'t bred. Also, even if the buck DOES fall over, the doe might not be impregnated for a number of reasons, so seeing the buck fall over means that mating took place, but not necessarily fertilization of the eggs.

ohh .......well i guess she is not pregnant then because he didnt fall over i guess? Hmmmm small chance i guess Smile and also it was not even 5 seconds.
so now i am in major Awwww when i got quinny the male i was told he was a male, Toungue nope he is not and i have 2 rabbit females LOL here i am thinking ramona is with child LOL
i checked them both and do males have nipples?
also i checked him and he has no penis...its like a slit like lipstick shape thing, and from what i saw online that means its a female! Ekkkk!
I was \"baby sitting\" a friend of mine\'s \"doe\" for three weeks. On the second day of having her, I saw her and my doe \"doing it\", but my friend\'s bunny didn\'t fall over - 31 days later I had babies! For the whole 3 weeks I let them frolic together and they didn\'t have any fights (none that I saw anyways). The males do have nipples and it is very difficult sometimes to tell the sex of a rabbit. I found after about 2 weeks of having the buck there, his testicles were very enlarged. (They obviously were having a good time!) She had 4 babies - 3 died and we have one lucky guy left who is one week old. the reasons that the babies died were either the buck was too big for the doe and she couldn\'t cope, or the sun got to them as I only found the nest a day after they were born. they looked really healthy, so I believe it was the heat, as I live in South Africa.
